NAGASAKI, a natural harbour on
the island of Kyushu, is one of the Japanese cities closest to the continent of
Asia, and has always been an active trading partner with China. The city, which
went down in history when it was destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945, has
dedicated parks, monuments and museums to remember these tragic events,
including the Peace Park with its adjacent museum. This is to
let people know war is horrible, peace is praiseworthy. Nagasaki has numerous
other places of great interest, such as the Seiyohkan shopping
centre and the Buddhist temple of Shofukuji, originally built
in 1629 for the Chinese residents of Japan. Don't miss a walk down Ryoma
Road with its magnificent view of the Temples.
CHEJU island is a paradise on
earth, with white beaches and crystalline waters populated by corals and many
species of exotic fish. The island has a splendid temperate climate and nestles
around the spectacular Halla volcano, 1,950 metres high and
covered with an extraordinary variety of plant species that change with the
altitude. The marvellous Chunjeyun and Chungbang waterfalls
complete the breathtaking scenery of this wonderful island.
SHANGHAI, one of the
largest cities in the world, has always welcomed foreigners, many of whom have
clearly left their mark in the city's history, architecture, and urban design.
The historic Bund is one of the finest examples, with its
evocative European style palaces dating from the 1920s and 1930s along the
Huangpu River, directly facing the fantastic Pudong skyline,
with its tall Oriental Pearl TV Tower. There are countless
places to visit in Shanghai including: the Yu Yuan Gardens, an
enchanting oasis of peace in the heart of the city, the home of Sun
Yat-sen, the Museum of Ancient Chinese Art, the
Temple of the Jade Buddha, and Longhua Garden with its
evocative pagoda.m.
